CEO To Leave South Baldwin Regional Medical Center

FOLEY, Ala., June 14, 2010 – Michael S. Neuendorf, Chief Executive Officer of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, is leaving his post to become Chief Executive Officer at Wesley Medical Center, a 211-bed hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss.

“This is an exciting professional opportunity for me to apply what I’ve learned at South Baldwin in a larger organization,” said Neuendorf. “I have mixed emotions though, because I have truly enjoyed working with the outstanding team of employees, physicians and volunteers at South Baldwin. My family and I have come to love Baldwin County and will truly miss the community.”

Neuendorf, who has been CEO at South Baldwin for the past three years, and previously served as Assistant CEO for a year, has championed quality, patient-centered care with passion and enthusiasm. During his tenure, the hospital has increased the quality of care as reflected in the CMS core measures, and dramatically increased physician, employee and patient satisfaction. The hospital has opened a new 28-bed patient wing, a new heart and vascular center, installed the first fixed PET CT scanner in the market, and recruited a number of physicians, four of whom are coming on board in the next 60 days.

“With Mike’s leadership, we have a firm foundation for providing excellent patient care that will continue with the new CEO,” said the Larry Newton, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. “We wish Mike much success in his new position and thank him for his many contributions to our community.”

The search for a new CEO is underway, and the hospital’s seasoned leadership team will ensure a smooth transition. Members of the Board of Trustees and medical staff will be involved in the process to select a new chief executive.
