South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce hosts 9th Annual Magnolia Run
Magnolia Springs, AL (April 24, 2012) – Lauren Reilly and Jon Bowie earned the title of overall female and male 5K race winners, respectively, at the 9th Annual Magnolia Run. A portion of the proceeds from the run benefit the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce Hattie Little Smith and Physical Education Departments within the Foley High School Feeder pattern.
Even though there were cloudy skies and a chance of rain, runners and walkers of all ages enjoyed scenic Oak Street in Magnolia Springs during the 5K race, 5K race/walk, and 1 mile fun-run. Dr. Art Holmes again served as the events race director. The 5K race began with the presentation of colors by the Foley High School JROTC followed by Kim Tatum singing the National Anthem and invocation led by Magnolia Springs Mayor Charlie Houser.
The lively post-race party immediately followed featuring delicious red beans and rice provided by Jesse’s Restaurant and high energy music by Tim Brown Entertainment. During the party, race winners in each age group received recognition and awards. Both Phyllis Freels Photography and David Horton provided photography services for the event. The Town of Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department provided traffic control.
The 9th Annual Magnolia Run was presented by South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. The Kids 1 Mile Fun Run was sponsored by Align Chiropractic and Riviera Utilities.
