Wound Care Center

For most patients, wound healing is relatively quick and simple process. But for some, problem wounds can lead to a severely compromised quality of life and sometimes even the loss of a limb. Wounds that resist healing for longer than three weeks should be considered for referral to a comprehensive wound treatment center.

The experts at the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center combine the latest in wound care treatment with physical therapy, exercise, nutrition and diabetic counseling. This comprehensive approach treats not only a non-healing wound but also underlying diseases or conditions. Our program is completely devoted to healing problem wounds, and helping our patients reclaim their quality of life.

Advanced Hyperbaric Medicine Treatment

We offer the latest in wound care technology—Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). Patients relax in a pressurized chamber that delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the blood stream and to the wound bed, which rapidly accelerates the healing process.

The center treats a variety of problem wounds including diabetic ulcers, abscesses, decubitus ulcers, pressure sores, traumatic wounds, skin tears, surgical wounds, burns, spider bites and wounds caused by peripheral vascular disease, arterial & venous insufficiency, and thrombosis.

The highly skilled Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center team includes physicians and nurses specifically trained and certified in advanced wound healing modalities and certified hyperbaric oxygen technologists.

New Patients Welcomed

The center welcomes new patients and works closely with primary care physicians, home health agencies and nursing homes to create a team approach to care. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. We offer new patient appointments within 24 to 48 hours of your call.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call (251) 949-3920.
