South Baldwin Regional Medical Center CEO and CNO Receive Excellence in Leadership Awards

FOLEY, AL (August 26, 2013) – CEO Keith Newton and CNO Margaret Roley of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center have been honored with Excellence in Leadership Awards by Community Health Systems, one of the nation's leading operators of general acute-care hospitals. The organization's affiliates include South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and 135 other hospitals in 29 states. The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes hospital leaders who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality healthcare and operational excellence.
Keith Newton joined South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in 2010 and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer. Newton joined Community Health Systems (formerly known as Triad Hospitals, Inc.) in 2001 and during his tenure has served at various levels in Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

Margaret Roley joined South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in 2005 and currently serves as Chief Nursing Officer. Roley earned a Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama. Roley also received an Excellence in Leadership award in 2008 along with CNO of the year in 2008, 2010 and 2012. She has been an active member of the Community Health Systems Corporate CNO Council for 5 years and serves on the Faulkner State Nursing and EMS board.

Under their leadership Newton and Roley are credited with improving operations and growth, while enhancing quality and safety of patients. They have also been successful in leading their team to numerous awards along the way including being recognized by the Joint Commission as a "Top Performer on Key Quality Measures", Press Ganey Summit Award winner, named American Heart Association's "Get with the Guidelines 2012 Gold Recipient" which is listed in US News & World Report Best Hospitals edition, Southwest Alabama's only chest pain accredited facility, Blue Cross Tier 1 accreditation, only hospital in Baldwin and Mobile County to receive an "A" in safety from the Leapfrog Group, established the first urgent care center in South Alabama to provide 24/7 coverage, first robotic surgery in Baldwin County, and selected as one of Modern Healthcare's Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2012 and 2013.
