Cardiac Rehabilitation
The cardiac rehabilitation program at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center focuses on individuals who have heart disease or who are at high risk for heart disease, including patients who have had a diagnosis of heart attack, angina, angioplasty, stent, coronary artery bypass surgery or valve replacement/repair.
Each patient will participate in a 12-week program of monitored exercise and education, designed to reduce the risk of future cardiac events. Patients attend classes three times a week that concentrate on:
- Cholesterol
- Exercise
- Good nutrition
- Healthy eating habits
- Smoking cessation
- Stress management
- Weight control
The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). AACVPR-certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer they most advanced practices available.
Maintenance Education Program
The maintenance exercise program at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center is designed to allow patients to continue regular exercise under the guidance and supervision of trained and experienced medical personnel.
Patients pay a small monthly fee to exercise, using the equipment and facilities of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center cardiac rehabilitation program. The program also allows patients to pursue their rehabilitative activities while experiencing the camaraderie and support of other survivors who are recovering from heart disease.
